What is permanent residence?

Australian Permanent Residence allows you to live and work in Australia permanently, study at an Australian school or university, receive subsidised healthcare through Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme, access certain social security payments (subject to waiting periods), apply for Australian citizenship (subject to the residency eligibility criteria), and sponsor people for permanent residence.

Do I have to wait 2 years to apply for permanent residence?

Not necessarily. In some cases you don’t need to wait at all before applying for Permanent Residence.

Can I initiate the process myself?

Yes. You don’t need to wait for your recruitment agent or 457 Business Sponsor to initiate the process on your behalf. Your advisor can help you to approach your employer.

Can I appoint my own migration advisor to assist with the application?

Yes. You are entitled to appoint a migration advisor to assist you with applying for Permanent Residence. Any information you provide is confidential and will not be disclosed to a third party unless you agree to it.

Will you assist my employer with the process?

Yes. As part our comprehensive service, we will assist both you and your employer with the application process.

How much is the visa application charge?

We will advise you upfront of the expected costs to make your application. The application fee charged by DIAC may vary depending on the application you make and is payable in addition to the professional costs. Refer to Form 990i for more info on DIAC application charges.

Do I have to pay the costs upfront?

If you’re not eligible for a payment plan, you are required to pay our fee upfront. Any amount paid in advance is held in a client trust account until we carry out the work on your behalf. DIAC application fees are paid upon lodgement of the application.

How do I make payment?

We accept payment via electronic transfer, Australian Money Order or bank cheque. Your advisor will provide you with the payment details.

How do I know what documents to submit?

Your advisor will provide you with a comprehensive checklist and instructions to ensure you know exactly what’s required.

What if I have any questions or concerns about my application?

An experienced migration advisor will personally assist with your application and answer any questions you may have. In addition to this, your advisor will closely monitor the application once it has been lodged with DIAC and keep you informed of any significant developments.
