Business & Skilled Migration Queensland
23 October 2013
It has never been easier to work and live in Queensland, Australia.
The Queensland Government recently overhauled its requirements for state nomination for visas and can process applications in record time.
There are three main types of visas to apply for – skilled worker, business or investor retirement visas.
Skilled worker visas are designed for people with specified professional skills such as teachers, engineers, scientists and medical professionals. There is a list of skills in demand released regularly, which you can check to see if your occupation is eligible.
Business visas encourage people who are willing to invest in Queensland to start a business or invest in existing projects. The state’s stable economy and highly skilled workforce make it an attractive place to do business.
Retirement visas are specially designed for retirees wanting to invest in and live in Queensland on their own finances.
Each has a clear set of requirements that can be studied in detail online.
All migrants require the nomination of a state or territory government in order to be eligible for a business visa, investor retirement visa and for some of the skilled visas.
Visas fall into two main categories –provisional visas, which are temporary visas, and permanent residency visas.
Provisional visas have a set time frame allowing someone from overseas to live and work in Queensland before either returning home or applying for a permanent visa.
Some of the provisional visas can be used as a pathway to permanent residency in Queensland.
