Humanitarian Program Consultations

The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship the Hon Chris Bowen MP, now invites the Australian public to provide their views and ideas on the size and composition of Australia’s Humanitarian Program for 2013-14.

Australia operates a Humanitarian Program, which offers resettlement for refugees and others in humanitarian need and protection for people already in Australia who are determined to be refugees.

The program is designed to fulfil our international obligations under the United Nations 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, and to go beyond these by helping people who are outside Australia but in great need of our help and protection.

The Australian public is invited to provide their views and ideas on Australia’s Humanitarian Program for 2013-14.
